Immunology Laboratory
The primary research objective of the Immunology Laboratory is to investigate the functionality of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the context of autoimmunity and autoimmune inflammatory disorders. We aim to uncover the critical role of Tregs in the modulation of bone homeostasis, intramedullary hematopoiesis, gut microbiome balance, and the maintenance of healthy gut-barrier integrity. This is achieved using mouse models (for diabetes, obesity, and infection) and human patient samples, combined with in vitro and ex vivo approaches.
The lab aims to advance our knowledge of the Treg biology and to establish novel treatment strategies to improve patient outcomes under various pathological settings.
