Vivekanandan Perumal is a Professor at the Kusuma School of Biological Sciences (KSBS), Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). His research interests focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms of viral infections, particularly Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and HIV-1, and exploring the role of G-quadruplexes in viral processes. Professor Perumal's academic journey began at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, where he earned his B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology, M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology, and Ph.D. in Basic Medical Sciences. He then went on to pursue research and post-doctoral work at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA, gaining valuable experience in his field. He joined KSBS IIT Delhi in 2010 as an Assistant Professor, rising through the ranks to Associate Professor in 2016 and eventually becoming Professor in 2021.
